The Blue Mountains Nepean Basketball club is excited to announce the upcoming EKS Award event! This annual event is all about celebrating and recognising athletes who have shown exceptional leadership skills, both on and off the sporting field.
Open to all Special Olympics Australia athletes, the EKS Award is a prestigious honour that pays tribute to the founder of Special Olympics, Mrs. Eunice Kennedy Shriver. It was inspired by the heartfelt gesture of Dr. John Day, an Australian volunteer who donated his medal from Mrs. Shriver in 1976 to mark the beginning of Special Olympics in Australia.
At the Blue Mountains Nepean Basketball club, we firmly believe in the power of sports to transform lives. The EKS Award allows us to shine a spotlight on those athletes who go above and beyond, demonstrating their exceptional leadership qualities both within our club and in their everyday lives.
We encourage all interested players to submit their nominations for the EKS Award. This is an incredible opportunity to recognise your fellow athletes, teammates, or friends who have made a positive difference in the community through their leadership skills. Let's come together as a community and show our support for these deserving athletes.
So, don't miss out on this chance to acknowledge and celebrate extraordinary athletes! Nominations for the EKS Award are currently open, and we can't wait to receive your submissions. Let's make this year's event a memorable one for all the amazing athletes at the Blue Mountains Nepean Basketball club. See you there!
