Elkwater Disk Golf Course, located in Cypress County, is a unique disk golf course that offers players a challenging and scenic experience. Established in 2015, this 9-hole course is set in a multi-use park area next to the town beach, the new Discovery Centre, and a renovated campsite. It provides players with an opportunity to explore the unique landscape and history of the Cypress Hills, one of the few places on the Canadian Prairies that was not covered with ice during the last glaciation.
With an elevation well over 5000 feet, players will notice that their shots are more overstable. The fairways are short and technical, with slight elevation changes, making birdies and ace runs the order of the day. The course features a mix of trees and open spaces, offering a variety of challenges for players of all skill levels.
Directions to Elkwater Disk Golf Course are simple, located just 40 minutes southeast of Medicine Hat. Players can take the Trans Canada Hwy and then head south on Hwy 41 to Elkwater. Maps and disk rentals are available at either the Discovery Centre or at the Main Concession at the beach. The first tee is located just west of the Main Concession area.
