Welcome to Ellwood Youth Football Club, a local community, family-oriented football club based in Coleford, in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. Led by manager Jason Bevan, the club was reformed from scratch in June 2015, and has since become a friendly and inclusive environment for boys and girls aged 4 to 16 who are eager to play football.
Ellwood Youth Football Club prides itself on nurturing the talents of its players and providing a positive and welcoming atmosphere. The club has teams for various age groups and abilities, and it aims to develop its players to potentially join the Ellwood Men's or Women's Teams in the future.
In recognition of its commitment to high standards, the club was awarded the FA Standard Chartered Club Status from the English Football Association in March 2016. Prior to the interruption caused by the Covid pandemic in March 2020, the Ellwood Youth teams were experiencing great success, with several tournament wins and titles.
Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic, the club and its dedicated coaches and players have been working tirelessly to regain their previous level of success. The club has already achieved victories in local tournaments and has had players scouted by professional academies.
Ellwood Youth FC has also established a relationship with Bristol City FC Football Academy, a prominent football institution. Coaches from Bristol City FC have conducted training sessions with the Ellwood Youth teams, and the club has facilitated football trials for its players at Bristol City FC and Bristol Rovers, resulting in many players signing with academies such as Forest Green Rovers, Cheltenham Town, and West Bromich Albion.
In addition to its partnership with Bristol City FC, Ellwood Youth FC had also fostered a great relationship with Seymours Football Pre-Academy, an esteemed training centre in Monmouth. However, the closure of the training facility in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic has temporarily put the collaboration on hold.
Despite the challenges faced, Ellwood Youth Football Club remains dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for young footballers in Coleford. With a focus on player development and community engagement, the club continues to thrive and is determined to regain its previous successes once football fully resumes.
