Welcome to Emma Hohnen Yoga, a peaceful and nurturing haven located in Urunga, Australia. Emma has been teaching yoga for over 18 years, and her classes are known for their restorative and revitalising effects on the body, mind, and heart. With a focus on tailoring each session to the individual needs of her students, Emma creates a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
Emma's training includes two years of full-time study with Jack Marshall at the Zen Renaissance Centre in Bondi, Sydney. During this time, she obtained her Diploma in Ki Yoga, which encompasses yoga poses, meridian studies, and macrobiotic food. Ki Yoga, developed by Jack Marshall, is a season-based and remedial form of yoga inspired by the Japanese Okido Yoga tradition.
The word “Okido” is a combination of the founder's surname, Oki, and the term “Do,” meaning the path or way of searching for truth in life. Masahiro Oki, a Japanese master, integrated his profound understanding of human nature through various disciplines, including Indian Yoga, Chinese Yin-Yang principles, and Japanese Zen tradition. His philosophy, disciplined practise, and healing arts formed the basis for Okido Yoga, which embraces an inclusive and cooperative approach to seekers of truth.
Emma's classes are held at the Urunga Literary Institute Hall, conveniently located in the heart of Urunga Town Centre next to the Art Space Gallery. Whether you are a beginner or have years of experience, there is a class for everyone. On Tuesdays, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, you can join the Ki Yoga class suitable for all levels. Thursdays offer a Yin Yoga class from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, perfect for beginners.
And on Fridays, Emma teaches a one-hour lower back care yoga class.
