Equestrian Interschools Ireland is a well-established equestrian club that offers structured showjumping events for schools all over Ireland. The club was first sponsored by 'Finches League' in 1990, and has since been sponsored by various organisations such as Irish Ferries, Hoofprints, and TRI Equestrian. The club aims to encourage and develop equestrian skills in students, providing opportunities for them to compete in a friendly and competitive environment.
The Equestrian Interschools League Committee is made up of dedicated individuals such as Paul Cuddihy, Helen O'Neill, Miriam Rickerby, and Barbara Algar, who work tirelessly to organise events and ensure the smooth running of the club. Membership to Equestrian Interschools Ireland is open to all students with an interest in equestrian sports, making it easy for anyone to join and participate in the club's activities.
Throughout the years, the club has seen great success with Irish teams travelling to international competitions such as Hickstead with notable achievements. The club also organises events such as the Balmoral Show Interschools Championships, allowing top teams to compete against Northern Ireland teams. The club has continued to evolve, adapting to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic by holding virtual prizegivings and resuming competitions as the world returns to normal.
In 2022, Equieire became the chief sponsor of the 90 cm individual class, aimed at novice riders, showing the club's dedication to supporting and nurturing young talent in equestrian sports. Additionally, TRI Equestrian extended its sponsorship to the premier 110 cm class in 2023, further solidifying their commitment to the club and its members.
Equestrian Interschools Ireland is a vibrant and inclusive club that provides a platform for students to showcase their equestrian skills, compete in a supportive environment, and build lasting friendships with like-minded individuals. With a long history of success and a bright future ahead, the club continues to inspire and empower the next generation of equestrian athletes in Ireland.
