Errit Kayak Club

At Errit Kayak Club, located at Errit Lake in Gorthaganny, Co Roscommon, Ireland, the focus is on promoting water safety and the exciting sport of kayaking among adults in the rural community. Established in July 2018, the club offers a safe and welcoming environment for adults of all ages to rediscover sport, gain confidence, and develop skills on the water. With a range of touring, sea, and GP kayaks available, as well as ancillary equipment, members have the opportunity to explore Irish waters near and far, whether on leisurely flat water paddles or more adventurous whitewater rivers and the sea.

Throughout the year, Errit Kayak Club members can be found paddling on their home water of Errit Lake, as well as neighbouring lakes including Urlar and OFlynn. Regular weekend trips allow members to enjoy the stunning scenery and sense of peace that comes with being out on the water. In the evenings during warmer months, club members can often be seen "messing around in boats" as they hone their skills and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding lakes.

Membership at Errit Kayak Club is open to adults who already hold a Level 2 Kayak or Canoe Skills qualification. The club also offers beginners courses during the spring and summer for those new to kayaking. Prospective members can simply fill out the membership application form on the website and will be contacted promptly to register. Annual membership for Level 2 Skills holders is 72, which includes Canoeing Ireland membership.

For enthusiastic novices with little or no kayaking experience, Errit Kayak Club welcomes new paddlers to join. Beginners courses are available during the spring and summer, with participants being trained and assessed to achieve Level 2 Kayak Skills. New Paddler membership costs 120 and includes club membership, Canoeing Ireland membership, and the necessary training.
