Esher Bowls Club

Esher Bowls Club is a well-established lawn bowls club located in Esher, New Zealand. Founded in 1930, the club has a rich history and currently boasts approximately 50 bowling members. Situated just off Esher High Street behind the Elmbridge Civic Centre, the club is easily accessible with free parking available.

Membership at Esher Bowls Club is open to players of all ages and genders. The club prides itself on being a friendly mixed club, providing opportunities for both social and competitive bowling. Whether you are an experienced player or a beginner, Esher Bowls Club welcomes you to join their ranks. The club offers wheelchair access to both the green and the clubhouse, ensuring that everyone can participate in the sport.

The outdoor bowls season at Esher Bowls Club runs from mid-April to the end of September. During this time, equipment for the bowling green is provided by the club. However, members are required to bring their own flat-soled shoes, clothing, and bowls. For new members, the club provides bowls for training purposes until they are able to acquire their own.

Additionally, the club has two qualified County Coaches who offer free coaching and mentoring to help new members get started.

Beyond the bowls season, Esher Bowls Club remains active throughout the year. The fully licenced bar is open on all match days and roll-ups, creating a social atmosphere where members can relax and enjoy each other's company. Even during the winter months, the club does not close its doors. Various social events are organised, including a Club AGM and Presentation Evening, as well as themed parties like the Christmas Party and Italian Night.

Games evenings and skittles are also popular among the members.

In addition to the bowling activities, Esher Bowls Club has a Bridge Section that meets on Tuesday evenings throughout the year. This provides an opportunity for members to engage in another popular social activity.

The club welcomes all enquiries, regardless of size or nature. With approximately 40 non-bowling Social Members and a free Associate Membership for bowling spouses, Esher Bowls Club is a vibrant and inclusive community. The club also offers a new format of the game called Bowls Bash, which is easy to play and suitable for all ages. Sessions for Bowls Bash are available on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as Sunday mornings.
