About
Alex, the organiser, wants to share some details about joining the Falkirk Bicycle Club with you all. Membership fees for the club are £30 per year for adults, £15 for juniors (under 16), and £45 for family membership (two adults and unlimited juniors). By becoming a member, you’ll get access to group rides, training sessions, social events, and discounts at local cycling shops.
Throughout the year, Alex organises various races like the May Day Gallop and the Tom Anderson Memorial Veterans Race. These events are great for testing your skills and competing with other cyclists from around the area. The club also offers weekly and monthly training rides to help you improve. Tuesday nights are for novice training, while Thursdays are set aside for more experienced riders looking for a fast-paced session.
Weekend club runs happen regularly on both Saturdays and Sundays. These rides are a wonderful way to explore the scenic routes of Central Scotland and enjoy the company of fellow cyclists. The club uses Strava to share training routes and encourage everyone to challenge themselves and track progress.
Established in 1986, Falkirk Bicycle Club started with just a few members and has grown to around 120 cyclists of all ages and abilities. It's known for its friendly and supportive atmosphere where everyone is welcome, whether you're into racing or just enjoying a leisurely pedal.
The club is managed by a dedicated committee, including roles like the club chairman, vice-chairman, race coordinator, secretary, treasurer, club captain, and social secretary. Committee meetings are held regularly, and all members can propose agenda items and access meeting details upon request.
To join Falkirk Bicycle Club, simply visit their profile on the British Cycling website and follow the steps to become a member. More information is available on the club’s website and their social media pages, including Facebook and Twitter, where you can stay updated on news, events, and rides. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist craving a new challenge or a beginner looking for support and guidance, Alex and the team look forward to welcoming you to the club.
