Founded by Spence in 1995, Falmouth Surf School has been a go-to destination for beginners looking to learn and improve their surfing skills. Located at the picturesque cove of Porthtowan, the school offers surf lessons in a beautiful setting. With a team of experienced instructors, they have taught countless enthusiastic beginners how to catch a wave and ride it with style.
But Falmouth Surf School is not just limited to surfing. Over the years, they have expanded their offerings to include a variety of water sports lessons and equipment hire. If you're looking for a unique experience, they also offer SUP yoga and fitness training at Maenporth beach.
Now run by Spence's daughters, Jessie and Naomi, along with Naomi's fiancé Matt, Falmouth Surf School continues to thrive and grow. Naomi and Matt are experts in running surfing and yoga workshops, utilising their deep knowledge of the Cornish coastline. Naomi, with her 4 years of experience running a Yoga school, specialises in Aerial and SUP yoga. Matt, a professional surfer and RNLI lifeguard, coaches surfers of all levels.
Jessie, an experienced dancer and yoga instructor, is responsible for teaching SUP Yoga classes during the Summer months. She also works as a staff member at the Royal Cornwall Hospital's A&E department. Her passion for SUP Yoga is evident as she ventures across Maenporth cove with her trusty companion, Maggie the Jack Russell.
Not to be forgotten, Spence himself, at 68 years old, is still actively involved in the business. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, he teaches 'Over 50s surf lessons' and offers SUP board and kayak rentals. If you ever want to hear some incredible surf stories, Spence is always ready to share.
