Welcome to the Farnham Angling Society’s community. Organiser Susan White extends a warm welcome to all. Tucked away on the Surrey/Hampshire/Berkshire borders, the society has been a staple since 1906, known widely as one of the South of England's premier fishing clubs.
Whether you're looking for specimen, pleasure, or match fishing, there’s something for everyone. From big Carp and Barbel to Pike and Trout, each fishery caters to different interests and skill levels. The locations cover running waters, serene rivers, gravel pits, ponds, and estate lakes.
With over 32 venues, members have a rich variety to choose from, categorised by fishing styles like Specialist, Predator, General, and Match. If you’re after a specific species, the SPECIES menu is handy, offering details on where to find them along with bait and tactic advice. Carp, Catfish, Roach, Rudd, Perch – whatever you seek, it’s likely covered.
Membership for 2023-2024 is £160 annually, with a £50 joining fee. Given access to over 32 venues, it’s great value for money. All levels are catered for, including juniors, students, disabled individuals, and those on a State Pension. Guest tickets are available as long as the guest is accompanied by a member. New members can join via the website, and existing members should renew before 1st May to avoid late fees.
Farnham Angling Society takes fish and fishery health seriously. Koi Herpes Virus (KHV) is a particular concern, and members are urged to ensure all gear is clean and dry before use. This includes nets, mats, slings, and more. Sunlight drying is preferred as an effective means of disinfection. Trevor Hopkins, the Fishery Management Secretary, is the go-to for fish-related concerns.
In recent news, 300 young barbel have been introduced into the River Blackwater at Yateley, thanks to the Environment Agency. These fish, from the EA’s Calverton Fish Farm, will surely add to members' angling experience.
Join the Farnham Angling Society today and enjoy the benefits of one of the most affordable and diverse fishing clubs in the South of England. Happy fishing!
