About
Established in 1977, Farnham Park Golf Club was formed as a private initiative, managed and maintained by its dedicated members ever since. Situated in Slough on Park Road, Stoke Poges, the club features The South Buckinghamshire, an engaging 18-hole parkland course. Players will find a challenging par 70 for men and par 73 for ladies, with tree-lined fairways and strategically placed ditches.
The club is a proud member of the National Association of Public Golf Courses (NAPGC) and has accumulated considerable honours at the county level. Notably, their Scratch Team currently holds the esteemed BV Cup (NAPGC- Bourne Vanneck).
Beyond the exceptional golf course, Farnham Park boasts the Birches Bar, a favourite among members and visitors. The bar offers a variety of food and drink options, providing an ideal setting for a pre-or post-round snack, a delicious meal, or a relaxing drink. The outdoor seating area offers an excellent vantage point to watch the final hole.
Dating back to the early 1900s, the golf club originated as the 9-hole Ladies Course of Stoke Poges Golf Club, owned by Sir Noel Mobbs. During both World Wars, the course was temporarily converted to farmland to aid the war efforts, yet the tees and greens were meticulously preserved, allowing restoration post-war.
In a generous gesture, the Mobbs family bequeathed the course to the local community through a deed of gift with Charitable Status. Managed initially by Eton Rural Council and later by the Slough Borough Council, the course remains a community treasure.
Farnham Park Golf Club offers members and visitors a remarkable golfing experience coupled with a friendly atmosphere. With its scenic course, charming bar, and significant heritage, Farnham Park Golf Club remains a cherished institution in Slough.
