Farsley Celtic Badminton Club

Matt Callard, the organiser at Farsley Celtic Badminton Club, has a message he would like to share with everyone interested in badminton in West Leeds.

Farsley Celtic Badminton Club, located in Pudsey, is known for its welcoming environment and has become a favourite spot for many local badminton enthusiasts. The club’s home is the Farsley Celtic AFC Sports Hall on Newlands in Farsley. The sports hall boasts five courts and is conveniently located next to Farsley FC.

Members can use the sports hall every Monday from 8 to 10.30 pm (except Bank Holidays) and every Thursday from 8.30 to 10.30 pm. The club operates year-round, attracting players not only from Pudsey but also from Bramley, Headingley, Horsforth, Calverley, Armley, Kirkstall, Rawdon, Guiseley, and Bradford.

Parking is available right outside, and many members enjoy socialising at the nearby clubhouse after games. Annual membership is £300 (£216 for those over 60). However, the club is nearing full capacity. Potential new members need to show their skills and commitment, aiming for the Men’s, Women’s, or Mixed A or B teams in the Leeds League.

The club exclusively uses high-quality feather shuttles for matches. Farsley Celtic participates in the Leeds Badminton Men's, Ladies', and Mixed Leagues. Match fees are £5 per player. Membership fees cover the cost of hiring the sports hall, shuttles, and equipment. First-time non-members are required to pay a guest fee of £7 per session. Fees can be paid monthly (£25 or £18 for seniors) or in full by August 31st annually. For membership inquiries, email Kieran Chatterton, the club's treasurer, at kieranchatterton@gmail.com.

If you are interested in joining, please contact the club via email before attending a session, as they are currently close to capacity. This helps ensure your playing standard fits with the club’s expectations. Unfortunately, beginners or lower-standard players cannot be accepted at this time.
