About
FC Burbage, based in Hinckley, was founded in the summer of 2011 by Rupert Newman, Jason Lee, and Phil Stockton. These three coaches, all fathers, wanted a place where kids could enjoy football, make friends, and have fun. They saw a need for such a club in Burbage and went for it.
Originally starting with Under 8's, driven by the local demand and their own sons' involvement, Rupert and his co-founders quickly gained support from Burbage Parish Council, who provided training and match space. They tackled the hurdles of setting up a children's football club head-on, from background checks to gathering funds for equipment, and kicked off their first session a mere five weeks after their initial idea.
Two weeks in, they hit their target number of children and now boast a waiting list. This season, the Under 8's have two sides ready to play friendlies with local clubs, with league play on the horizon next season. FC Burbage focuses on fun, but also values healthy competition, instilling responsibility and sportsmanship in every player.
Rupert and his team aim to develop young footballers' skills while ensuring they enjoy the game. The environment they create lets kids learn and experiment without fear of constant criticism. It's not just about winning; it's about fostering a genuine love for football.
For those wanting a club that prioritises young players' well-being and growth, FC Burbage is spot on. It's a friendly, supportive place where kids can fall in love with football. For more details, visit their website or email info@fcburbage.co.uk.
