Chorgraphique Fernand Nault (FCFN) is a renowned dance company based in Gatineau. Founded by the late choreographer Fernand Nault, who had a distinguished career as a choreographer and artistic director at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal, as well as in the United States. Nault's works have been acquired and produced in the USA, Asia, and Europe, solidifying his legacy in the Quebec and Canadian choreographic heritage.
As the first Canadian choreographer to ensure the continuity of his artistic legacy during his lifetime, Fernand Nault's centenary in 2020 inspired the FCFN to present “Faire danser le patrimoine. “ This initiative aims to share and bring to life the important legacy left by Nault in innovative ways. The repertoire of FCFN includes a diverse range of ballets, from contemporary and classical to folkloric and neoclassical styles.
Notable works in the FCFN repertoire include “Libert Tempre,” “Casse Noisette,” “Carmina Burana,” “La Fille Mal Garde,” “Divertissement Glazounov,” “Symphonie de Psaumes,” “La Scouine,” “Le Temps Aprs,” and “Quintessence,” among others. The company is actively engaged in ongoing projects, upcoming events, and archival activities, preserving and showcasing Nault's artistic heritage for future generations.
As part of the centennial celebrations of Fernand Nault's birth, FCFN is organizing various activities, including a graphic novel recounting Nault's remarkable life story, and an itinerant exhibition titled “Fernand Nault: Une Passion, Un Legs. “ Through these initiatives, FCFN seeks to celebrate and honour the significant artistic legacy of Fernand Nault, both in Quebec and Canada.
With a commitment to excellence and a dedication to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Fernand Nault's choreographic works, Fonds Chorgraphique Fernand Nault continues to be a leading dance company in Gatineau, upholding the artistic vision and legacy of one of Canada's most esteemed choreographers.
