First Steps Dance

First Steps Dance, run by Kay Couzens, is a standout dance school in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. For the youngest, the pre-school programme includes adapted ballet, modern examination exercises, and fun rhythmic tasks. This class, held on Thursday evenings, features dance warm-ups, barre work, body toning, stretches, and choreographed sequences, all to music that resonates with them.

Throughout the year, First Steps Dance also organises special events and themed workshops, leading up to small shows where children can display their progress.

Kay ensures a relaxed and fun atmosphere, with no strict uniform for pre-schoolers. Soft, stretchy clothes and suitable footwear are recommended. For the Thursday evening class, older children should wear a leotard and ballet shoes.
