About
Nestled on the stunning West Coast in New Plymouth, Fitzroy Surf Lifesaving Club has been the guardian of Fitzroy Beach since 1921. Dave and his team have one main goal: to keep the beach safe during patrol hours.
Dave's crew of dedicated lifeguards undergo top-notch training to tackle any emergency that comes their way. They're always ready and skilled to handle all sorts of water-related mishaps, giving swimmers and surfers peace of mind.
The club’s also big on nurturing the lifeguards of tomorrow. Their Junior Surf programme is all about teaching the youngsters teamwork, leadership, and safety. These future lifesavers get the skills they need while having a blast.
Fitzroy’s all about inclusivity and fun. It’s a family-friendly spot where everyone, no matter their age or ability, can feel right at home. Whether you're a seasoned lifeguard or just starting out, Fitzroy welcomes you with open arms.
To mark 100 years, Dave and the team are throwing a special Labour Weekend event in 2022. Past and present members are invited to join the Fitzroy Centenary celebrations with heaps of fun activities and social events. It's a perfect chance to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate the club's legacy.
Big thanks go out to the club’s sponsors who help keep everything running smoothly. Their support is vital and much appreciated.
