Fleet United Bowling Club

Fleet United Bowling Club, nestled just off Fleet's main high street beside Churchill Retirement property on Crookham Road, is home to more than 100 members. Susan, the club's organiser, has created a welcoming spot for all bowling enthusiasts.

With a bar stocked with a variety of drinks and a kitchen ready for any social event, the club makes sure there's always something happening. Fleet United hosts several Open Days where newcomers can give bowls a try. Check the "What's On" section of the club's website for dates.

Founded in 1930, the club stays modern, offering a friendly vibe for players of all levels. The outdoor season runs from mid-April to mid-September, featuring over 30 friendly weekend matches against other clubs. Every game might just end with a snack and a pint from the bar.

Susan also mixes things up with a full social calendar. Think coffee mornings in winter, quiz nights, games evenings, skittles, and even canal trips. For the more adventurous, there are bowling holidays to Potters Resort in Norfolk, Spain, and the Isle of Wight.

Roll-ups, or casual bowling sessions, happen most afternoons and evenings, and there's a special session every Wednesday with free coaching for beginners. Competitive types can join ladies, men's, and mixed league teams or take part in County and district games.

Fleet United's green is member-maintained and one of the best around. The club also runs a short mat bowls programme in the clubhouse from September to April, with roll-up sessions on weekdays, excluding Thursdays when two teams compete in a local league. Again, free coaching is available.
