At Flowers & Salt, the focus is on creating a welcoming and nurturing space for all individuals to explore the practise of Yoga and Pilates. The studio is located in the beautiful surroundings of Muriwai Beach, allowing students to connect with nature and find inner peace. The tranquil atmosphere encourages relaxation and self-reflection, providing a sanctuary for those seeking respite from the busy world.
The studio offers a range of classes to cater to different needs and preferences. Vinyasa Flow classes are dynamic and invigorating, allowing students to move in synchrony with their breath and find strength and flexibility. VinYin classes combine flowing movement with long-held floor postures, providing a balanced practise that nourishes both the body and the mind. Yin Yoga classes focus on slowing down and accessing the deeper layers of the body, promoting relaxation and stress relief.
Special classes and courses are also available, such as the Pregnancy Yoga Series, which is designed to support expecting mothers throughout their pregnancy journey. This series offers deep relaxation techniques and helps prepare women for childbirth and motherhood. For those unable to attend in-person classes, an online Pregnancy Yoga series can be purchased.
Flowers & Salt takes pride in providing a comfortable and well-equipped studio. All necessary equipment, including mats and props, are provided free of charge. However, students are welcome to bring their own mats if preferred. After class, students can enjoy a complimentary sauna to unwind and indulge in the therapeutic benefits of sauna therapy.
Towels and swimwear are required for the sauna experience.
To further enhance the experience, students are often gifted flowers to take home as a token of gratitude for their presence and contribution to the space. This acts as a gentle reminder to cherish one's uniqueness and the positive energy brought into the studio.
Flowers & Salt values community and giving back to those in need. Cyclone Gabrielle has impacted the area, and thus, 50% of all profits will be donated to support relief efforts. By attending classes at Flowers & Salt, students not only improve their physical and mental well-being but also contribute to the greater good of the community.
The team at Flowers & Salt is passionate about sharing their love for Yoga and Pilates. Vicky, the owner and teacher, grew up on a local flower farm and has a deep connexion to Muriwai. Her vibrant personality and nurturing qualities create an energising yet relaxing atmosphere in her classes. Carol, another teacher at the studio, offers nourishing and gentle classes, allowing students to deepen their self-awareness and learn the art of relaxation.
Clare, also a teacher, combines her background in dance with Yoga, bringing fluidity and grace to her classes.
