Welcome to Fly Fish Islay, the premier fishing charter on the Isle of Islay. John McCallum, our dedicated organiser, invites the sports community to join him for an unforgettable fly-fishing experience in the island's serene and scenic settings.

Situated in Bowmore, right on the shores of Loch Indaal, Fly Fish Islay offers stunning views of the village, Loch Indaal, and beyond. The picturesque village is famous for its whitewashed houses, charming harbour, and the iconic Bowmore Round Church.

Islay is renowned for its freshwater lochs teeming with wild brown trout. Key spots like Lochs Gorm, Skerrols, and Finlaggan offer fantastic fishing opportunities throughout the season. The brown trout fishing season runs from 15th March to 6th October, while river fishing is available from 25th February to 31st October.

John McCallum, an experienced Scotland Internationalist who has competed in several World Championships, is dedicated to ensuring every guest has a fantastic time. He offers expert tuition, always ready with landing net and camera, whether you're a novice or seasoned angler. John’s background as a former Scottish Rivers Champion and Commonwealth Champion in New Zealand adds valuable insight to every fishing trip.

Fly Fish Islay provides ample opportunities to fish for brown trout in several of Islay’s top lochs. While Loch Gorm is a highlight, other lochs such as Ballygrant, Skerrols, Finlaggan, Kinnabus, Lossit, and Ardnahoe are equally rewarding.

Our fishing charters have been widely praised. For instance, two couples from America recently caught 8 brown trout before lunchtime on their first fishing adventure. Another guest, Chris from Tasmania, enjoyed an extraordinary day at Loch Gorm, catching 72 wild brown trout.
