About
Fort Archers Archery Ground, led by Steve, has been a grassroots hub in Fishguard for 30 years, catering to archery enthusiasts. With about 50 active members, they cover recurve, compound, barebow, and traditional bows.
Steve runs sessions every Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm at their summer range in Scleddau and their indoor winter range in Fishguard leisure centre’s main sports hall. Both new and seasoned archers, age 8 and up, are welcome. Please note, juniors need a parent or guardian.
Steve's club provides induction courses and taster days throughout the year, offering all the basic gear for beginners to try different types of bows. Check the club's notice board or Facebook page regularly for updates on courses, range availability, and other activities.
Membership fees are now due, and the next induction date is to be announced soon. Steve appreciates the Be Active Wales Fund and National Lottery for their financial support, which aided in new equipment and the training of three level 1 coaches.
Competitions, both local and national, are encouraged as they help members grow and develop. Fort Archers, under Steve's guidance, emphasises inclusivity, growth, and community, ensuring a supportive environment for all.
