GAFIA Lodge

GAFIA Lodge at Mt Baw Baw is a ski club and accommodation located in the scenic Baw Baw Village in Victoria, Australia. The lodge is owned and operated by a not-for-profit Cooperative, making it a community-driven space that encourages a warm and welcoming environment for all guests.

Originally built in the mid-70s by members of the GAFIA Club as a private family lodge, GAFIA Lodge is now open to the wider community and caring guests when not being used by members. The club is proud to share its facilities and provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the beauty of Mt Baw Baw and the extensive Baw Baw Plateau.

GAFIA Lodge serves as a comfortable base for guests to enjoy a range of activities throughout the year. In the winter months from June to September, visitors can participate in downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, and other snow-related activities. During the green season from October to May, the lodge offers opportunities for bushwalking, mountain bike riding, photography, painting, bird watching, reading, and relaxation with loved ones.

In addition to being an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts, GAFIA Lodge is also perfect for family celebrations, get-togethers, reunions, and community group activities. Whether you're looking for an adventurous holiday or a peaceful retreat, the lodge caters to various interests and preferences.

Situated approximately 160 km east of Melbourne and 50 km north of the Latrobe Valley, GAFIA Lodge is conveniently accessible. It is located within the Mt Baw Baw Alpine Village at 22 Candle Heath Drive. Guests can reach the lodge in around 2 hours from Melbourne, either through Noojee and along the sealed Mt Baw Baw Tourist Road or via Moe and the (unsealed) South Face Road.

At GAFIA Lodge, the community values the health and safety of its visitors. The club encourages vaccination and other COVID-safe practises to ensure the well-being of everyone. If guests are feeling unwell, it is kindly requested that they refrain from visiting the lodge.
