Welcome to Gentle Over 60s Yoga, a yoga studio located in Steventon, Basingstoke, Hampshire. The studio offers yoga classes specifically designed for individuals over the age of 60, focusing on accessibility and inclusivity for all levels of health and fitness.
The classes are led by Amanda, an experienced yoga teacher with a British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Certificate. With 15 years of yoga practise, Amanda specialises in teaching Gentle Yoga to the Over 60s, creating a calm and peaceful environment for newcomers to yoga. She has witnessed the positive effects of yoga, including improved balance, strength, flexibility, and breathing.
In a Gentle Over 60s Yoga class, participants can expect a gentle warm-up and breathing exercise, using chairs for support. The class includes a combination of seated, standing, and floor-based postures, with alternatives provided for those who may not be comfortable lying on the floor. Each class concludes with a relaxing guided relaxation exercise, leaving participants feeling both relaxed and energised.
Wearing comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement is recommended for the class, preferably in layers to regulate body temperature. All necessary equipment, such as mats and blocks, are provided by the studio, although participants may bring their own blanket for the relaxation session at the end of the class.
The classes are held in the welcoming and friendly environment of Steventon Village Hall. The studio offers multiple courses throughout the year, with each course consisting of six to seven weeks. The upcoming courses for January, February, April, and June 2020 are now open for registration, with costs ranging from 30 - 42 per course.
