Get Hooked on Fishing

Welcome to Get Hooked on Fishing, an angling charity based in London. Our mission is to provide positive opportunities for young people and communities through the sport of angling. We deliver fun and interactive training designed in collaboration with young people to build their confidence and showcase alternative pathways and better opportunities available to them.

We are proud to be working alongside the Environment Agency and the Angling Trust, contributing to the National Angling Strategy called 'Angling for Good. ' To learn more about our achievements in the past year, you can download our 2021/22 Annual Report.

Throughout the year, we organise a variety of taster events where you can come and try fishing for yourself. It's a great opportunity to learn something new and have fun while doing it.

Additionally, you can make a donation online to support our cause. Your contribution will help us create more opportunities for young people and empower them to shape their own futures.

Our participants have shared their positive experiences with us. One satisfied participant said, “We don't just go fishing at Get Hooked, we do many things. We have fun, we learn, and we talk about some very serious things. ” This highlights the diverse and enriching nature of our programme.

One success story involves a young man named Sam, who initially lacked confidence and had low self-esteem. After joining our scheme, he found support and guidance that transformed his life. Now, at the age of 13, Sam has become a coach and mentor to other young people in our programme.

We are also thrilled to share some recent news about our organisation. The Environment Agency's 2023 Annual Report reveals that 100% of fishing licence income is reinvested back into angling. This reinvestment aims to improve fisheries for people, including our own initiatives.

Furthermore, Get Hooked on Fishing has become a Get Fishing for Wellbeing Approved Delivery Partner. This partnership solidifies our commitment to the mental health and wellbeing benefits of angling. As a quality-assured organisation, we consistently deliver high-quality fishing experiences.

Lastly, Esquire magazine recently featured an article about Get Hooked on Fishing. The article, written by journalist, broadcaster, and author Stephen Smith, explores his fishing session at Northala Fields with his son. It's an excellent read that highlights the positive impact of our programme.
