About

Glasgow Archers is a prominent archery club based in Glasgow, Scotland. The club has a rich history, being established in 1948 and relocating to its current venue, Craigholme Sports Centre, in 1973. In 2021, the venue was renamed H@PP (Hutchesons @ Pollock Park). 2023 marked a significant milestone for Glasgow Archers, as it celebrated its Diamond Anniversary of its founding and the Golden Anniversary of being resident on the same field.

Despite its humble beginnings, Glasgow Archers has grown and contracted over the years, adapting to the changing popularity of archery. With a membership of over 70 individuals, the club caters to archers of all abilities and styles, excluding crossbow. Its diverse membership encompasses beginners, past and current internationalists, juniors aged 12 and above, and more senior archers. From traditional to hi-tech equipment, Glasgow Archers welcomes a wide variety of archery abilities, styles, and bow types.

Coaching and mentoring are highly valued at Glasgow Archers. In addition to the club's experienced coaches, more seasoned members often assist beginners in their progress. Notably, the club is fortunate to have Michael Mather, a former internationalist and two-time past CEO of Scottish Archery, serving as a coach. Glasgow Archers is affiliated with the Scottish Archery Association, Archery GB, and World Archery.

In May 2023, Glasgow Archers became a registered charity with the aim of introducing archery's mental and physical benefits to a broader audience. The club also aspires to establish a centre of excellence for archery in Glasgow. To engage both members and visitors, the club's website offers an entertaining and often humorous approach to archery-related content, including book reviews, factual pieces, news and blog articles, archery humour, and useful downloadable PDFs.

Whether individuals are new to archery or have a pre-existing interest, Glasgow Archers welcomes all to explore their website and discover the range of resources available. Visitors are encouraged to reach out to the club with any questions, feedback, or simply to say hello. The website provides extensive archery-related articles, updates on upcoming events, and the latest information on the club's Facebook page.

Glasgow Archers is proud to show its support for Ukraine and Ukrainians, particularly expressing its affection for Oksana, and looks forward to continuing its commitment to the sport of archery in the years to come.
