One of the main highlights of Golden Reel Angling is the annual Golden Reel Competition. This highly-anticipated event showcases the skills and talent of anglers from all over the country. It is a test of skill, strategy, and perseverance. The competition consists of 24 qualifiers that take place at the country's top commercial venues.
Each individual qualifier winner advances to the Grand Final, which is held at Larford Lakes on Saturday, 28th September 2023. In addition to the qualifier winners, two semi-finalists also progress to the semi-final match on Wednesday, 25th September.
Tickets for the Golden Reel Competition can be purchased online via our website. The competition offers substantial prizes to the winners. If 80 or more tickets are sold per qualifier, the eventual winner will receive a staggering 50,000. Second place will be awarded 5,000, third place 3,000, and there will also be 4 section winners.

The 2023 winner, Andy Power, is the most recent addition to the list of exceptional anglers who have claimed the coveted Golden Reel Championship trophy. Other previous winners include Lee Riley in 2022, Stuart Fotheringham in 2021, Tony Coates in 2020, and Jamie Hughes in 2019 and Andy Power in 2018.
