Goscote Dance is a well-established dance school located in Syston, Leicester, offering a wide range of dance classes for children aged 2. 5 years and above. Founded in 1985 by Miss Karen, the school aims to create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can learn to love and appreciate the art of dance.
All dance teachers at Goscote Dance are fully CRB checked and BTDA accredited, ensuring the highest quality of teaching and professionalism. The school is also proud to be Acrobatic Arts trained and a certified Acropad Centre, providing students with a comprehensive dance education.
The primary goal of Goscote Dance is to encourage students to achieve their personal best while having fun and staying safe. The school offers opportunities for students to participate in examinations, competitions, dance scholarships, charity events, and the annual show. Many Goscote Dance students have gone on to perform at prestigious venues such as Disneyland, cruise ships, television shows, pantomimes, and even become dance teachers themselves.
Goscote Dance offers a wide variety of dance styles to cater to different interests and aspirations. The classes include Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acrobatics, Contemporary, Lyrical, Commercial, Tumbling, and Stage class. Students have the opportunity to explore various dance genres and develop their skills in their chosen areas.
The school is led by Miss Megan, the daughter of Miss Karen, who has continued to drive the school forward after her mother's passing in 2023. Miss Megan herself started dancing at Goscote Dance from the young age of 2 and has achieved Distinction in all subject areas, completing all her examinations in Ballet, Tap, Modern, and Lyrical. She graduated from Addict Dance Academy with a High National Diploma qualification, specialising in commercial, contemporary, and jazz dance. Miss Megan is also a certified Acrobatic Arts Tumbling instructor and a member of the British Theatre Dance Association.
Goscote Dance prioritises examinations to help students progress technically and express themselves through dance. The school holds at least 5 examination sessions per year for subjects such as Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Modern, and Acrobatics. The exams are conducted by the British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA), which focuses on performance and the development of skills across different disciplines. BTDA examinations are Ofqual accredited and recognised by universities, offering up to 70 UCAS points.
For young dancers aged 3 to 10 years, Goscote Dance offers the Rose Award System as a stepping stone to the comprehensive grading system. This system is designed to build a strong foundation for young dancers, preparing them for future examinations and technical growth.
At Goscote Dance, every student is considered part of the dance family. The school strives for excellence, commitment, and a love for dance while ensuring that each student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
