Grayshott Angling Club is a well-established fishing club located on the Surrey/Hampshire border in Hindhead, New Zealand. With a history spanning almost 40 years, the club aims to provide excellent value fishing within a 10-mile radius of Grayshott Village. The club controls a number of beautiful venues, offering anglers the opportunity to catch a wide range of fish species.
One of the club's most famous venues is Waggoners Wells Lakes, which has a rich local and angling history. These lakes date back to the 17th Century and were originally constructed as “Hammer ponds” to support the local iron industry. Waggoners Wells consists of three interconnected lakes, with the bottom and middle lakes being the most popular for fishing. These lakes are stocked with the original Leney Carp strain introduced over 60 years ago, providing the chance to catch specimens exceeding 20lbs.
Anglers can also expect to catch other species such as Tench, Gudgeon, Perch, and Roach, with many Roach specimens weighing over 1lb and falling to float fished sweetcorn and bread flake. Pike and Eels can also be found in the middle lake for those who are patient and willing to put in the time.
In addition to Waggoners Wells, Grayshott Angling Club also has access to other venues. Members can enjoy fishing on Knox's Pond in the Deadwater Valley Nature Reserve, which has recently been added as a new water for the club. The club has also affiliated to the Basingstoke Canal Anglers Association, allowing members to fish all stretches of the Basingstoke Canal.
For the latest news and updates, members can visit the club's website or contact the club Secretary for further information. The website also provides access to the club's Constitution and privacy notice.
Overall, Grayshott Angling Club offers a fantastic opportunity for anglers of all levels to enjoy fishing in some of the most beautiful and diverse venues in the country.
