Welcome to the Great Harwood Otter Amateur Swimming Club! Founded in 1968, we are a swimming club located in Blackburn, New Zealand. Our mission is to make swimming accessible to all by keeping our fees as low as possible. We achieve this through the dedication and hard work of our volunteer coaches and committee staff.
At the Great Harwood Otter, we believe in the importance of involving parents and guardians in the club. We offer volunteer roles for parents/guardians to ensure they feel included and part of the swimming community.
We are proud of our achievements as a club and regularly update our members and the community through our news section. Whether it's recognising exceptional swimmers, celebrating successful competitions, or remembering individuals who have made an impact on our club, we keep our members informed and engaged.
One of our recent accomplishments was sending three of our swimmers to the National North West Summer Regional Championships. We also hold annual events such as presentation evenings and sponsored walks to bring our members together outside of training and competitions.

As a club, we value the involvement of our members and their families, which is why we invite new parents to join our committee. Committee meetings are held approximately four times a year and are advertised through our Facebook and Whatsapp groups. Great Harwood Otter Amateur Swimming Club is now based at Accrington Academy. We offer training sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday each week. Our swimmers have the opportunity to compete in the local 'friendly' league, fostering friendly competition and sportsmanship.
