Established in 1935 as The Strathalbyn Swimming Club, the Great Southern Swimming Club has been producing swimmers of all levels for over eight decades. With the opening of the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre (FAC) in 2017, the club expanded its training facilities and renamed itself to reflect its regional identity.
The Great Southern Swimming Club prides itself on being a family-oriented and friendly swimming club, welcoming swimmers of all ages and abilities. Whether you're a novice swimmer looking for some fun and fitness or a high-performance national level competitor, you'll find a supportive and inclusive community at our club.
Members of the Great Southern Swimming Club have the opportunity to train at both the Strathalbyn Pool and the FAC. Our focus is on helping swimmers achieve their personal best, not only in terms of stroke technique but also in building confidence in the water. We strive to provide a nurturing environment where swimmers can develop their skills and fitness at their own pace.
At the Great Southern Swimming Club, we offer specialised programmes for junior development and competition, as well as masters participation and competition. Whether you're just starting out or looking to improve your performance, our experienced coaches are dedicated to helping you reach your goals.
In addition to regular training sessions, the Great Southern Swimming Club also organises community-based swimming events for members to participate in. These events provide an opportunity for swimmers to showcase their skills, compete against others, and track their progress in a supportive and friendly environment.
As a member of the Great Southern Swimming Club, you'll also have the chance to take part in long course carnival events held at the Strathalbyn pool over summer. These events not only provide a platform for competition but also foster a sense of team spirit and camaraderie among our members.
