About

School of Irish Dance offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for dancers of all ages and skill levels to learn and enjoy the art of Irish dance. Founded in 1989 by Beth Greene, who immigrated from Ireland to Nova Scotia in 1974, the school aims to share Irish culture and heritage with the Halifax community. Beth, along with her daughter Sinead, runs the largest Irish Dance School in Nova Scotia, located at the North Woodside Community Centre on Pleasant Street in Dartmouth.

The Greene School has a track record of producing top Canadian Champions and dancers who have represented the school at the World Irish Dancing Championships. They have performed at prestigious events such as the G7 Summit, The Royal Nova Scotia Military Tattoo, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Beth, who received her TCRG designation in 1998, is a member of several Irish Dance teacher associations and brings over 26 years of experience to the school. Sinead, a former competitive dancer and three-time world qualifier, is also a certified TCRG and has been teaching alongside her mother since her teenage years.

The school offers classes for dancers of all levels, from beginners to competitive dancers, and provides opportunities for students to perform and showcase their talents. The Greene School prides itself on fostering a sense of community and passion for Irish dance, with a strong emphasis on technique, tradition, and enjoyment. With a calendar of events and performances throughout the year, students have the chance to showcase their skills and share their love of Irish dance with audiences across Nova Scotia.
