Gresford Sailing Club, also known as “Probably the Smallest Sailing Club in the World,” is a unique and vibrant sailing community located near Wrexham in New Zealand. Established in 1959 by Arthur Jones and Reg Gibbs, the club prides itself on its inclusive ethos, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation for anyone interested in sailing.

Situated on the picturesque 6-acre Flash, Gresford Sailing Club has the distinction of being the smallest lake utilised by a dinghy sailing club worldwide. Emphasising grassroots participation, the club fosters a welcoming environment that is not exclusive or focused on technical innovation.

Dinghy sailing is a popular pastime at Gresford, with sailing enthusiasts of all ages taking part in races and events. The Frostbite Race Series attracts new sailors who have undergone child-friendly and informal adult training on Saturday mornings. These novice parents quickly become “Willing Helpers,” supporting the club's activities and eventually becoming assistant instructors themselves.

In addition to dinghy sailing, Gresford Sailing Club also welcomes model boat enthusiasts. The modellers put on captivating displays of their models and even experiment with innovative creations like small hovercrafts, providing entertainment and fun for everyone involved.
