About
Located within Harewood Centennial Park in Nanaimo, the Harewood Skatepark is a vibrant hub for skateboard enthusiasts of all ages. This popular community park features a youth park specifically designed for skateboarding, which officially opened to the public on July 6, 2020. The skatepark includes two main Street Style Plaza areas with a variety of facilities such as descending taco with roll ends, big three block gap with up ledge-bank and up gap, and turnarounds with drop in banks.
In addition to the Street Style Plaza, the skatepark also boasts a kidney-shaped bowl and slappy wall with down rails, providing endless opportunities for skaters to refine their skills. The entire Youth Park is located on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw people and features integrated public art created by First Nations artists, Bracken Hanuse Corlett and Joel Good. Bracken Hanuse Corlett's design features two youth skaters learning to skate, while Joel Good's design honours the pre-industrial history of the area with salmon flowing through the river adjacent to the park.
The Harewood Skatepark is a safe and inclusive space for skaters to gather, practice their skills, and connect with the community. Whether you're a beginner learning the basics or an experienced skater looking to challenge yourself, the skatepark offers something for everyone. Join us at the Harewood Skatepark and experience the thrill of skateboarding in a welcoming and supportive environment.
