By qualified and experienced teachers who are passionate about nurturing their talent and helping them reach their full potential.
Harlequin Arts Academy caters to a wide range of age groups and abilities. For children under 5 years old, we offer classes on Saturday mornings. These classes include pre-school ballet for under 4's and ballet and tap for children aged 4 upwards who are in reception at school. As children progress to 5–18 years old, they can participate in weekly classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, and Acrodance.
The classes for this age group are combined as a triple set initially, allowing children to have a taste of each style. However, as they advance, the classes separate into more structured sessions focusing on specific genres. Acro classes are not combined and are taught separately.
At Harlequin Arts Academy, dancing is not restricted to children. We understand that dancing can be a social activity, which is why we also offer adult classes in Tap and Ballet. These classes provide a chance for adults to meet like-minded individuals and de-stress from their daily routines.
Our mission at Harlequin Arts Academy is to provide an educational insight into the world of dance. We aim to encourage students to be confident in realising their own ideas and potential without the barriers imposed by society. In our safe and stimulating environment, students can share their enjoyment of the arts and develop new skills. We believe in creating a non-discriminatory space where students can grow in confidence, body, and self-image.
Our school, located in Hadfield, Glossop, has a dedicated team of teaching staff who use a variety of teaching methods to cater to the individual learning needs of our students. All classes are suitable for both boys and girls, and beginners are always welcome. Private lessons are occasionally available upon request. We are proud to be recognised by the ISTD and RAD, both of which offer recognised qualifications that can contribute to secondary school diplomas and UCAS points starting from grade 6 upwards.
Don't just take our word for it, we have received testimonials from our satisfied students and their parents. It speaks volumes about the quality of teaching and training they receive at Harlequin Arts Academy.
Harlequin Arts Academy opened its doors in 1998 and initially conducted classes in a local hall. However, in 2023, we moved into our current premises and expanded our offerings to three days a week. We conduct at least two examination sessions each year and are also a registered centre with AQA. To showcase the talents of our students, we organise annual shows at local theatres, providing an opportunity for all our students to participate.
Additionally, we regularly organise workshops and masterclasses with guest teachers and lecturers to enhance the learning experience of our students.
At Harlequin Arts Academy, we take pride in offering a high standard of training, reflected in our examination results. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, studying with us ensures that you receive comprehensive and well-structured training in the theatre arts. Our dedicated and qualified teachers are committed to helping you achieve your goals and nurture your passion for dance.
