Paul Vince wants to share a note with the sports community about the Harris Judo Club.
Situated in Orpington, Harris Judo Club has proudly been part of the British Judo Association for close to three decades. Over the years, the club has cultivated a number of talented Judoka, highlighting its commitment to the sport's growth and development.
A defining feature of Harris Judo Club is its team of fully qualified and DBS-checked coaches. These dedicated individuals provide excellent training and guidance, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Judo, often called the “Gentle Way,” involves techniques like Nage Waza (Throwing) and Osaekomi Waza (Holding). Senior players can also learn Kansetsu Waza (Arm Locks) and Shime Waza (Strangles). Unlike some martial arts, the main goal in judo is to gain control rather than cause harm—strikes and kicks are not allowed. This makes judo an excellent choice for anyone looking for a physically demanding sport that promotes fitness and self-defence skills.
The club is keen to welcome newcomers and offers the first session free, ensuring everyone can try the sport without financial concerns. If you don't have a judo uniform, jackets and belts can be borrowed, but it's recommended to wear comfortable clothing like jogging bottoms and a t-shirt.
Harris Judo Club is led by Paul Vince, the Chairman, who is passionate about creating an inclusive and welcoming community for all members. Under his leadership, the club has gained a strong reputation in the Orpington area.
In addition to regular classes, the club participates in various competitions and events throughout the year. Harris Judo Club has seen notable successes in events like the London Youth Games, Subarashi, and Kent International, thanks to the dedication and hard work of its members and coaches.
Training sessions are held at Sanderson Hall on Mickleham Road in St. Pauls Cray, Orpington. For more information or to inquire about joining, contact Duncan Carey at 07871-843159.
Paul Vince wants everyone to know that Harris Judo Club offers a nurturing environment for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced judoka, the club provides a warm welcome and an opportunity to grow and excel in the sport of judo.
