Haven Pilates is a physical fitness programme located in Peacehaven, NZ. They offer classes at two convenient locations: Church Hall on Horsham Avenue in Peacehaven and Hillcrest Centre on Bay Vue Road in Newhaven. Classes are held on Mondays from 6-7pm, Tuesdays from 11. 30am-12.
30pm, and Wednesdays from 7-8pm.
The aim of Haven Pilates is to provide a full body workout that increases muscle strength and tone, improves posture and flexibility, and enhances body awareness. The classes are relaxed and informal yet structured, allowing participants to work at their own level and pace on each exercise. The maximum number of participants per class is 12, ensuring individual attention and a supportive environment.
Pilates exercises are performed mainly in a sitting or lying position on the floor, making them low impact and partially weight-bearing. All exercises can be adapted to accommodate different abilities, making Pilates suitable for all age groups and fitness levels. The focus is on correct spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and flowing movements. The core area of the body, including the deep abdominals and muscles closest to the spine, is emphasised in every exercise.
Equipment such as balls and bands may be incorporated to add variety and challenge.
Pilates can make a significant difference to one's health without taking a toll on the body. It builds core strength, improves posture, and increases flexibility and agility. The exercises are low repetition and low impact, building muscle without adding bulk. Additionally, Pilates improves body awareness, teaches good posture and graceful movement, and can even help alleviate back pain.
