Havering NALGO Archers is an established NFAS field archery club located on the outskirts of Danbury, Essex. Situated towards the south of Chelmsford, the club boasts excellent road links, just off the old A130 and A12 junction 17, between Howe Green and East Hanningfield.
As a friendly club, HNA welcomes archers of all skill levels and offers a wide range of NFAS approved shooting styles. The club features a challenging course consisting of 20 to 40 targets, ranging from 20 to 65 yards. The targets include a combination of 3D and 2D targets, with an all-important practise area. All of this is situated within 18 acres of secluded woodland, providing a serene and natural setting for archery enthusiasts.
HNA offers 7 days a week shooting, with off-road parking available, weather permitting. In addition, the club provides a unisex toilet facility and a covered area for archers to set up their bows and enjoy a well-deserved packed lunch.
The club committee consists of dedicated members who ensure the smooth operation of the club. The committee includes Dennis Ife as Chairman, Howard Ife as Vice Chairman and Web Master, Graham Radford as Secretary, Glenn Powley as Treasurer, Jim Gilbey as Membership Officer, and Jake Godwin as an Ordinary member.

In terms of open shoots, HNA organises various events throughout the year. One notable event is the HNA Open Shoot, which took place on Sunday, 8th October. Another event is the HNA Master Hunter Shoot, scheduled for October 10th. Additionally, the club recently held the HNA Invitational Longbow Shoot on Sunday, 4th July 2021.
This event was a test event for the club's new location and showcased the club's commitment to providing year-round archery opportunities.
Despite the unpredictable weather, the HNA Invitational Longbow shoot saw the participation of 20 dedicated archers who proved their commitment to the sport. The course for the event featured imaginative targets created by the club's course maestro, Scott. The course made excellent use of the woodland's features, including ponds where archers aimed at two fighting animals and a crocodile slipping into the water. The course was mainly composed of 3D targets, with two favourite 2D targets from past HNA weekend shoots: a standing bear and a head-on elephant.
