Heart of the Hunter is a physical fitness programme located in Cessnock, in the heart of the Hunter Valley. Our mission is to connect the mind, body, and soul through meditation and movement, empowering people to be healthy, happy, and strong. We believe that true wellness comes when we address all aspects of ourselves, and we strive to create a community of Heart, Health, and Happiness.

At Heart of the Hunter, we offer a range of services to support holistic health and fitness. Our classes include relaxation & movement for the body, mind, and soul, such as meditation, mindfulness, boxing, yoga, and personal training. We also provide holistic counselling, embodied movement dance, low tox education, and essential oil workshops. Additionally, we offer stress management techniques and seated movement classes.

We believe that physical fitness is not just about the body, but also about the mind. Our programmes aim to reduce stress, increase clarity, productivity, and efficiency, and help individuals make better decisions. Through our classes, participants can experience more love and compassion and bring deep peace and relaxation into their lives.

Heart of the Hunter is led by Lauren Short, a dedicated and experienced Meditation & Movement Facilitator and Holistic Coach. Lauren has a passion for holistic health, wellness, and fitness, and her journey in this field has been impactful. Not only has she participated in marathons and running events supporting various charities, but she has also trained clients for challenging endeavours like the city to Surf and completing the Kokoda trail. Lauren has also worked with community organisations, teaching exercise to individuals of different age groups and abilities.

Lauren's expertise extends beyond physical fitness. She is a mental health and suicide prevention first-aider, providing holistic support to her clients. Her approach looks at the whole person, addressing not just their mental health needs but also their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

Lauren's inspiration comes from her late grandfather, who suffered from dementia. His experience taught her the importance of good nutrition, exercise, and reducing the chemical load in our homes and bodies. As a testament to this belief, she sponsors a child through the Young Living Foundation in Ecuador and advocates for a lowtox lifestyle.
