Henfield Cricket Club's Colts section is a fantastic avenue for both boys and girls who are passionate about cricket. It welcomes players of all skill levels from the age of 5 onwards, ensuring that every young cricket enthusiast has the opportunity to develop their skills and enjoy the game.
The Colts section is divided into various training squads based on age ranges, ensuring that players can train and compete with others of a similar age and ability. The squads include the Allstars (Ages 5-8), Dynamos (Ages 8-11), Girls Cricket (Various ages), U11s (Hardball), U13s (Hardball), and U16s (Hardball). These age ranges are determined by the child's age as of August 31st, 2022.
To make things easier, for any general inquiries, interested individuals can reach out to Tammy Garmston, who serves as the Club's Colts Liaison officer, or Nick Bandy, the dedicated colts manager. Henfield Cricket Club places a strong emphasis on safeguarding, ensuring that children can enjoy a safe and welcoming environment as they learn and play cricket.
In terms of registration, there is a fee of £40, and the start date for this exciting event will be confirmed in due course. The ECB will kindly provide the necessary cricket kit for all registered participants, eliminating the hassle of sourcing equipment independently.
For those looking to progress further within the Colts section, the pathway to the Dynamos squad is available. Under the guidance of coach James Drummond-Davies, the Dynamos provide an excellent opportunity for young cricketers to further refine their skills and thrive in a competitive environment. The registration cost and start date for Dynamos are the same as that of the Allstars squad.
Furthermore, we are proud to offer an U9s Girls Cricket team, coached by Tim Furber and Kathy Sealy. However, please note that there are no current plans for a girls' team in the upcoming 2023 season due to insufficient player numbers.
The U9s squad plays softball and is managed by Paul Pheasant. The registration cost is £40, and there is an additional fee of £15 per additional member. Match fees stand at £3 per player per game, providing a cost-effective means of participation. The start date for U9s will be confirmed soon.
For those interested in participating with a hardball and advancing their skills further, Henfield Cricket Club also offers squads for U11s, managed by Jo Butler, U13s, managed by Pete Boyce, and U16s, managed by Nick Bandy. These squads share similar registration costs and match fees as the U9s squad, creating a more inclusive and accessible playing environment for all age groups. The start dates for these squads will also be confirmed in the near future.
