Hervey Bay Sailing Club

The Hervey Bay Sailing Club, located in the charming city of Hervey Bay in Queensland, Australia, is a sports club that promotes off the beach sailing on the Fraser Coast. Situated on a stunning 7 km white sandy beach facing North, the club is protected by the magnificent Heritage listed Fraser Island, creating an excellent sailing venue that has been utilised by the club for over 50 years.

One of the highlights of the club is the famous “Bay to Bay Yacht Race”, which has been held annually since 1981 (except 2020 due to COVID-19). This race attracts as many as 200 trailable yachts and has become a special event in the sailing calendar on the East Coast. In 2023, the race will be in its 43rd year (42nd B2B). Participants in the race sail through the pristine Queensland waters of the Tin Can Bay Inlet, the Wide Bay Harbour, the Great Sandy Strait, and Hervey Bay.

The race includes an overnight stop in Garrys Anchorage, located between Fraser Island and Stewart Island, allowing sailors to experience the remote, unspoilt, and truly spectacular wilderness area of the Great Sandy Marine Park.

The Hervey Bay Sailing Club is proud to be Queensland's largest trailable yacht race and one of the three largest trailable yacht passage races in Australia.
