Matt Hicks from Hicks Equestrian has a quick note for you. Hicks Equestrian, located in Whitchurch, Hampshire, is a great spot for riders at all levels. Matt, born in Wales in 1973, has always loved horses, starting his equestrian journey with a Shetland pony named Camellia despite coming from a non-horsey family.

After training with Debbie Johnston at Langford Common Stud in Wiltshire, Matt's eventing career took off when he was 21, with significant successes including completing the Blenheim CCI3* and competing in Europe. In 2002/3, he shifted his focus to dressage, excelling in the discipline and winning several national and international titles, including the Nice CDI Freestyle Championships in 2013. Beyond competing, he’s a superb trainer for horses and riders at all levels.

Hicks Equestrian is based at the stunning Hurstbourne Equestrian Centre. It's easy to reach from the A34 and A303, making it convenient for riders everywhere. The facilities are top-notch, offering everything from hot and cold wash down bays and solariums to a cold saltwater spa for the horses. The paddocks are perfect for year-round grazing, and there's off-road hacking around the grass gallops of Hurstbourne EC and nearby villages.

The training facilities include two indoor schools – a 30 × 60 one with great lighting, seating for spectators, and a Martin Collins surface, and a smaller 20 × 40 school. There’s also a spacious 30 × 60 outdoor sand school. The two American-style barns have 26 large stables, all secure and well-equipped for your horses' needs.

Hicks Equestrian is known for its fantastic service, attention to detail, and 24-hour supervision. There’s plenty of parking for lorries and trailers, and they offer full livery, competition livery, short-term schooling livery, and training clinics.

Winchester Riding Club holds regular training sessions at the centre and praises Matt’s natural teaching ability and knack for boosting rider confidence. Visitors also love the immaculate arenas, stables, and friendly, helpful staff.
