What do you practice at Highland Ki Society?

We practice Ki Aikido, also known as Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, with mind and body unified, developed by Koichi Tohei Sensei. We also include breathing and meditation techniques in our training.

How are your classes structured?

Classes generally start with exercises for health, including breathing, flexing and stretching, followed by Aikido exercises that develop the unification of mind and body through the body movements and mechanics used in Aikido techniques.

Do you focus on self-defence as part of Aikido?

Yes, our Aikido practice develops from basic theory about the mechanics of techniques into using mind and body in harmony. We also use the concept mind moves body to refine movement and move partners with minimal effort.

With a presence in 24 countries, including Europe, Africa, and South America, the Ki No Kenkyukai Internationale boasts an impressive 186 dojos (clubs) worldwide.
