High Peak Budo is a member of the Tokushima Budo Council International, offering training not only in Jujitsu but also in the associated disciplines of Judo, Aikido, and Karate. The club regularly organises events and courses to enhance students' skills and knowledge.
The practise of Jujitsu has a long history in Japan, with elite samurai warriors incorporating the art alongside their primary martial arts. Jujitsu focuses on empty hand techniques and employs an opponent's strength against them. It is not just a means of subduing adversaries efficiently but also a lifelong art that seeks constant self-improvement.
The curriculum of Jujitsu within the Tokushima Budo Council International encompasses a variety of offensive and defensive methods, including throws, joint locks, strikes, and strangulation techniques. The empty hand techniques are further complemented by defensive manoeuvres against weapons, which can be utilised for both defence and attack.
Jujitsu is considered the “mother art” that has evolved over the centuries. It has two daughters, Judo and Aikido, which share many similarities but also possess distinct differences. While Jujitsu does not prioritise harmony or flexibility like its daughters, it remains a combat-oriented art, designed to defeat opponents without rules or restrictions.
High Peak Budo seeks to preserve the traditions of Jujitsu while adapting it to the modern world. With a comprehensive syllabus and a focus on practical self-defence, the club aims to provide a holistic martial arts experience for its members.
