Hills Little Athletics Centre is excited to offer a fantastic Tiny Tots program for children aged 3 to 5 years. Designed to promote participation and fun, this program focuses on skills-based games that help develop fundamental abilities like running, jumping, and throwing.
Led by the experienced Coordinator, Tyla Slobedman, these sessions provide a nurturing environment where young children can grow and learn through play and unstructured games. Picture your little one running and jumping over rope ladders, mini hurdles, and hoops, or practising their throwing and catching skills with bean bags. As an added bonus, they also get the chance to take part in exciting 'Athletics' events such as long jump or a 50m run on the track.
The Tiny Tots sessions take place every Sunday home meet at 9.00am and last for approximately 1 hour. Parents are required to stay with their child and lend a helping hand when needed. It's a wonderful opportunity to bond with your little athlete while supporting their development.
In addition to the regular Sunday sessions, Tiny Tots can also participate in the LASA State PB Days and Interclub meets. This allows them to experience the thrill of competition and engage with other young athletes from different centres.
Please note that according to the Association's rules, once a Tiny Tot turns 5, they do not automatically transition to the Under 6 category. At Hills LAC, we allow 5-year-olds to continue participating with the Under 6 group, still wearing their Tiny Tot badge. This means they will stay in the Under 6 age group for the next season. While separate activities for older Tiny Tots are not conducted at Hills LAC, parents/guardians have the option to let their child join the Under 6 athletes when they turn 5.
However, it's important to remember that these 5-year-old Tiny Tots remain eligible for the Tiny Tot category and are not eligible for the most improved athlete awards in the Under 6 age group. This distinction is unique to our Centre and may differ at LASA events, where they will compete as Tiny Tots.
Join us at Hills Little Athletics Centre and give your little ones a head start in athletics! The Tiny Tots program is a fantastic way to introduce them to the world of sports while fostering their physical and social development. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity!
