About
The Hillside Football and Cricket Club, also known as the Sharks, was formed in 1999 by a small group of parents in the Sydenham, Hillside, and surrounding areas. As one of the fastest-growing areas in Melbourne, the club has become one of the largest, most prominent, and successful clubs in the EDFL (Essendon District Football League).
The club offers various teams for all ages and genders, including Supers, Senior Men's and Women's teams, Youth Girls, and Junior Boys. They pride themselves on their inclusive and family-oriented approach, aiming to provide opportunities for players of all abilities.
In recent years, the club has achieved significant success, with the Senior Men's team winning multiple topships, including a Senior Reserves premiership in 2023. The club also introduced a second Senior Women's team in 2024, allowing for even greater pathways and opportunities for young female players.
In addition to their focus on football, the Hillside Football and Cricket Club is actively involved in the local community. They have led initiatives to raise awareness for various community issues, including supporting the TAC's Zero campaign to promote road safety. The club also promotes cultural awareness and diversity through initiatives such as the Indigenous Round and playing jumper. They also support initiatives against violence and celebrate pride rounds.
The Hillside Football and Cricket Club welcomes players, sponsors, and volunteers to be part of their club. Those interested can get in touch through their website or contact the club president directly.
