In 1996, he co-founded 'Destrier,' Europe's foremost calvary re-enactment group, alongside like-minded individuals. This experience fueled Dominic's desire to delve deeper into the ancient art of horsemanship.

With the guidance and encouragement of TV star Mike Loades, Dominic embarked on international jousting competitions and has been recognised as one of the top exponents of the sport. However, Dominic's interests go beyond jousting and mounted combat. He is a devoted student of historical haute cole horsemanship, particularly from the Sixteenth, Seventeenth, and Eighteenth Centuries.

One of Historic Equitation's notable projects includes collaborating with English Heritage to highlight the classical teaching methods of William Cavendish, the Duke of Newcastle, England's most famous riding master, at Bolsover Castle's riding house. This collaboration showcases Dominic's commitment to promoting and preserving the rich heritage of horsemanship.

In response to the challenges faced in 2020, Historic Equitation has expanded its services to include training for both horses and riders. Horses are trained and schooled according to classical methods at their headquarters in Sudborough, while Dominic also offers on-site visits to clients' yards. This flexibility ensures that horse owners can benefit from Dominic's expertise and guidance regardless of their location.
