Hivesville Tai Chi Strollers is a sports club located in the South Burnett Regional of Australia. This club offers a unique opportunity for individuals to combine the benefits of Tai Chi with walking in a supportive and friendly group environment.
Led by experienced walk organiser Kathy, the Hivesville Tai Chi Strollers meet every Tuesday at 3:30 pm for a weekly walk. The group consists of 11 members who enjoy walking at a medium pace for a duration of 45 to 60 minutes.
The club is located at the Hivesville Sports Ground off Main Street in Hivesville, making it easily accessible for residents of Hivesville, Murgon, and Proston. While the group is not dog-friendly or pram/wheelchair friendly, it welcomes individuals who are looking to improve their health and well-being through this unique combination of Tai Chi and walking.
Walking regularly has numerous benefits and has been proven to lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 percent. It also helps manage weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of developing certain cancers, improves bone density, balance, and coordination, and enhances overall mental and physical health.
Hivesville Tai Chi Strollers is proudly supported by the National Heart Foundation of Australia, which recognises the importance of physical activity in maintaining a healthy heart. The club is committed to building connexions within the community and providing a structured and supportive walking programme that complements the care provided by healthcare professionals.
One member, Maria, shared her journey of how walking transformed her life. After struggling with weight, diabetes, and blood pressure problems for over 40 years, she started walking up to 5,000 steps a day. Through consistency and determination, she gradually increased her daily steps to 15,000 and eventually became diabetes-free with improved blood pressure. Maria's story is a testament to the positive impact that walking can have on both mental and physical health.
To join the Hivesville Tai Chi Strollers and become part of their walking community, individuals can join their Facebook group. The club welcomes new members and encourages them to engage in regular physical activity for a healthier and happier life.
