Horangi Taekwon-Do, located in Grande Prairie, is a martial arts school that upholds the values of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Established in 2000, Horangi offers a variety of programs to cater to individuals of all ages, with the most affordable prices in the area.
The Tiger Cubs program is specifically designed for children aged 4 to 6, focusing on street proofing, basic Taekwon-Do techniques, and age-appropriate teaching methods to keep young minds engaged. Kids classes, for ages 7 to 12, emphasize discipline, self-control, basic moves, patterns, sparring techniques, and self-defence, all while ensuring a fun and engaging learning environment. Adult classes, for ages 13 and up, focus on individual fitness levels, including cardio, flexibility, muscle tone, and strengthening, in addition to Taekwon-Do fundamentals and self-defence techniques.
The founder and lead instructor at Horangi Taekwon-Do is Darryl Rasmussen, who has been training in Taekwon-Do since 1991 and holds a Fourth Dan Black Belt certified by the International Taekwon-Do Federation. With over 50 medals from competitions, including Alberta Provincial Champion and Canadian National Champion titles, Mr. Rasmussen brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the school.
Horangi Taekwon-Do invites individuals to join their community and build confidence one kick at a time. The school boasts the largest floor in Grande Prairie, with classes held two times a week to accommodate different schedules. Offering both one-year membership and month-to-month options, Horangi Taekwon-Do is committed to providing the best value and experience for its students.
As the only school recognized by the ITF north of Edmonton, Horangi Taekwon-Do follows the teachings and principles of the founder of Taekwon-Do, Gen. CHOI Hong-Hi, and upholds the tradition of this Korean martial art that is practised in 188 countries worldwide. Taekwon-Do was devised and completed by Gen. CHOI Hong-Hi to demonstrate the spirit and wisdom of the Korean nation, rooted in ethics and modern science.
