Ian Rigg, based in Penrith, is a seasoned yoga instructor, martial arts school owner, and meditation teacher. With a solid grounding in holistic well-being, Ian designs his classes and workshops to empower individuals to thrive.
Ian’s journey in movement and martial arts started in 1990 with TaeKwon-Do (TKD), where he now holds a 5th degree black belt and ran a successful TKD school in Cumbria for two decades. As a Budokon Mixed Movement Athlete, Budokon Yoga and Mobility teacher, and Budokon Martial Artist, Ian has completed over 1000 hours of training with Budokon Founder, Cameron Shayne.
An endurance athlete in his past, Ian’s expertise extends to physical fitness through participation in long-distance running events. Since 2004, Ian has also deepened his meditation practice and is a respected meditation teacher, having trained under Rob Nairn, Donal Creedon, and Mingyur Rinpoche. Ian holds a Masters Degree in Studies in Mindfulness from the University of Aberdeen and has contributed as a teacher in the same programme.
As the Lead Mindfulness Facilitator for the NHS in Cumbria, Ian established a mindfulness and compassion initiative for staff well-being. He is also a lead tutor for the Mindfulness Association's courses.
Ian's credentials include certification as a breathwork instructor, offering workshops on techniques like the Wim Hof Method. His background in counselling and psychotherapy, with specialised knowledge in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and youth counselling, complements his holistic approach.
When not teaching, Ian enjoys the stunning landscapes of Cumbria through hiking, running, and cold immersion in the lakes and mountains.
