Leigh's journey with yoga began in her early 20s when she was suffering from a prolapsed disc. In her search for relief, she found yoga, and it has been her saving grace ever since. She has also battled with anxiety and depression throughout her life, and movement has served as a coping mechanism. However, it was the discovery of deep conscious connected breathwork that truly transformed her life.
Breathwork has helped her quiet her negative thoughts and find the strength to thrive. When she is not teaching yoga or holding space for breathwork, Leigh finds joy in walking amidst nature with her fur babies.
At Ignite Your Being, Leigh's goal is to empower her students. She believes that movement should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, gender, or any other perceived limitation. She uses Iyengar inspired methods of alignment and body awareness, with her own twist of incorporating strength and mobility practises to physically heal the body. Her classes are fun and light-hearted, designed to keep students inspired.
In addition to yoga classes, Ignite Your Being also offers breathwork sessions. Yogi's have known about the healing power of the breath for thousands of years, and breathing techniques can improve both physical and emotional well-being. Conscious connected breathing (CCB) allows us to enter a deep meditative state and quiet the conscious mind. Regular breathwork practise can help us become more mindful of our thoughts and respond to the outside world rather than reacting to it.
It can also release tension, alleviate stress and anxiety, improve sleep, boost the immune system, and increase creativity.
