The IOS Round the Island Race is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are up for a challenge in the world of sailing. Covering a 40-mile course, this race truly puts sailors' skills and endurance to the test. Starting and finishing at IOS Sailing Club, participants will navigate through a mix of tidal sea, river, and estuary sailing as they take on a clockwise circumnavigation of the island.
Whether you sail a dinghy, catamaran, or sailboard, all are welcome to participate in this epic event. However, if your boat doesn't have an RYA Portsmouth Yardstick number, be sure to reach out to IOS Sailing Club ahead of time. With an expected duration of 3 to 10 hours under normal conditions, participants need to have their boats fully equipped to handle any situation that may come their way, whether it be sailing after dark or in the fog.
